Mankind...
The most curious bunch to have ever walked the earth. Pawns in an
ageless battle of Good versus Evil. Or so they say. We have never quite seen it
that way. Good and Evil, black and white, fire and water, oil and vinegar. Sometimes
my thoughts dwell on these strict imposed notions and I pity them. Some might say
that recklessly we offered them the gift of free will and dragged them into
this celestial conflict without foreseeing the consequences of such act. But I
believe we acted as we should have, even if at their eyes we are regarded as
the villains. Villains… what is it with mankind and their concepts where a
certain thing can only be defined by another that opposes it? There are more
colors in the rainbow, you know! And not everything can or should be defined
by opposition; if it is not good then it must be bad.
How short sighted one must be to hold such perspective.
In the beginning, there was no battle. Sometimes we had quarrels going
on, sure, but they were nothing more than small little struggles between two different
factions. Ours and theirs. Nothing to be worried about. But then, along came
mankind. They took over this land, begun to name everything and created serious
imbalances in our order. Our Father called them His creation. His proud
creation... that just didn’t sit very well with us. We were here first, you
see. And what was then some harmless little bout and difference of opinion,
soon became a war. Mankind was His creation, but we had to baby sit it. It was far
from being a fair trade.
The disagreements between us grew stronger, and when the rift became
intolerable, we were forced to choose sides. I did. We all did. We picked our
sides, and mine decided to rebel. To stand for what we believed in. That was
the day we learned one of the most important lessons of our existence; standing
for your beliefs always has a price, you either pay it with your life, or you
pay it with your soul. For us, it was our down fall. What will it be for you?
My name is Aziel, I am a fallen one and just like many of my brothers
and sisters I am doomed to walk this earth until the end of time and to be
hunted like a rabid animal. Humans call us demons, the dark ones fallen grace
and they hunt us down mercilessly, without even realizing they are simply doing
someone else’s dirty work.
